This is the official Python SDK for Model Context Protocol servers and clients. It allows building MCP servers that expose tools, resources, and prompts to any MCP host. It allows building MCP clients that connect to any MCP server.
It supports every standard transport: stdio, Streamable HTTP, and SSE. The SDK requires Python 3.10 or later. Installation can be done via pip or uv with the command uv add "mcp[cli]" or pip install "mcp[cli]".
