Never edit before that confirmation.
\n
Decision Tree
\n
For each route:
\n
\n

No
loader
, no
getStaticPaths
, no per-request data →
ssg

\n
\n
Pure UI. Build once, serve from CDN. Highest performance.
\n
\n
\n

Loader reads only build-time-stable data (filesystem, static config,\ntyped CMS export, no
request
/
params
/
context.env
use) →
ssg
or\n
isg

\n
\n
Pick
isg
with
timeRevalidate(seconds)
if the source can change between\ndeploys (CMS, pricing pages, public catalog).
\n
Pick
ssg
if the source only changes when you redeploy.
\n
\n
\n

Loader reads
params
to fetch data, but not
request
/cookies →\n
ssg
with
getStaticPaths
, or
isg
if the universe of params is\nopen-ended (millions of slugs).
\n
\n

Loader reads
request
, but the data is shareable (
request-static
:\nrequest used only for cache keys like
Accept-Language
, never for\nidentity) →
ssr
by default;
isg
is possible on adapters whose\ncache can key on the varying dimension (e.g. a normalized cache key at a\nCloudflare gateway). If the variant fan-out is unbounded or the adapter\ncache can't express the Vary, stay on
ssr
.
\n
\n

Loader reads cookies, auth headers,
context.env
per-request, or\nanything personalized →
ssr

\n
\n
Auth dashboards, anything user-specific, anything that varies by user\nidentity at request time.
\n
Unless only a small part of the page is personal (a cart count,\n\"signed in as …\", a recommendation strip) and the rest is shared: then\nrecommend
ssg
/
isg
for the route plus a server island for\nthe personal part (see branch 5b).
\n
\n
\n
\n
5b. Personal data is confined to a small, self-contained part of the page\n→ keep the route
ssg
/
isg
and move that part into
src/server-islands/
:\na default-export component plus a
loader
that reads
context
instead of\nthe page loader, used as JSX with a
fallback
. See\nhttps://pracht.resynapse.dev/docs/server-islands. Not available on the static\nadapter. Server island props are untrusted input — the server island loader must\nauthorize from
context
itself.
\n
\n
Heavy client interactivity, no SEO need, auth-gated →
spa
\n
\n
Internal admin tools, post-login dashboards where the first paint can be a\nskeleton.
\n
\n
\n
\n
Step 1: Enumerate
\n
MCP: when the pracht MCP server is registered (
pracht dev-mcp
), prefer its\n
inspect_routes
/
inspect_api
/
inspect_build
/
doctor
/
verify
tools over\nshelling out.
\n

pracht inspect routes --json\n

\n
Prerequisite:
pracht inspect
needs a vite config with the pracht plugin\nwired up.
\n
Capture:
path
,
file
, current
render
,
revalidate
,
middleware
, and\nthe top-level
mode
field (manifest vs pages router — Step 4 depends on it).
\n
Step 2: Read each loader
\n
For each route, open the file and look at the
loader
/
getStaticPaths
\nexports. Tag the loader with one of:
\n
\n

none
— no loader at all
\n

static
— only reads imports / pure data
\n

param-static
— reads
params
only
\n

request-static
— reads
request
for cache keys but data is shareable\n(e.g.
Accept-Language
) — decision-tree branch 4
\n

request-personalized
— reads cookies, auth headers, user-specific\n
context.env
lookups — decision-tree branch 5
\n
\n
Step 3: Recommend
\n
Produce a table:
\n
\n
\n
\n
Route
\n
Current
\n
Recommended
\n
Severity
\n
Reason
\n
\n
\n
\n
Severity:
error
(broken today, e.g.
ssg
with a loader that reads\n
request
— cannot be prerendered correctly),
warn
(works but mis-tuned,\ne.g.
ssr
with no loader),
info
(optional improvement, e.g. hydration\ntuning).
\n
Examples of recommendations:
\n
\n

ssr
→
ssg
when loader is empty: \"no loader; no per-request data — make it\nstatic.\" (
warn
)
\n

ssr
→
isg(3600)
when loader fetches a public CMS: \"shared data, freshness\nacceptable at 1 hour.\" (
warn
)
\n

ssg
→
ssr
when loader reads
request.headers.get('cookie')
: \"reads\nrequest — cannot be prerendered.\" (
error
)
\n

spa
→
ssr
when route has SEO-relevant
head()
and unauthenticated\nvisitors should see content. (
warn
)
\n

ssr
→
isg(600)
+ server island when the loader reads the session only for a\nheader greeting or cart badge: \"move the personal part into\n
src/server-islands/
; the page itself is shared.\" (
info
)
\n
\n
Step 3b: Consider the hydration mode too
\n
Render mode controls when HTML is generated; hydration mode controls how\nmuch JavaScript ships afterwards (
hydration: \"full\" | \"islands\" | \"none\"
,\ndefault
\"full\"
— see https://pracht.resynapse.dev/docs/islands). A current
@pracht/cli
emits the\nresolved
hydration
per route in the inspect JSON; if your CLI predates the\nfield (absent from the JSON), grep the manifest for
hydration:
(pages apps:\n
HYDRATION
exports) instead. While tuning, also flag:
\n
\n
Routes with no interactivity at all (no event handlers, no hooks) →\n
hydration: \"none\"
— zero JS shipped.
\n
Content-heavy routes with one or two isolated widgets (counter, search\nbox, newsletter form) →
hydration: \"islands\"
with the widgets moved to\n
src/islands/
.
\n
Caveats: islands routes use MPA-style full-document navigation (no client\nrouter) unless
client.islandsNavigation
swaps islands pages in place,\nisland props must be JSON-serializable, and
render: \"spa\"
cannot\ncombine with
\"islands\"
/
\"none\"
.
\n
\n
Step 3c: Consider streaming for slow SSR routes
\n
An
ssr
route whose loader has one slow call and several fast ones is a\ncandidate for
defer()
plus
streaming: true
. Flag it when the loader awaits\nmore than one independent source and at least one is materially slower — the\nwhole document currently waits on the slowest.
\n

// before: TTFB waits on getReviews()\nreturn { product: await getProduct(id), reviews: await getReviews(id) };\n\n// after: shell flushes without reviews, which stream in\nreturn { product: await getProduct(id), reviews: defer(getReviews(id)) };\n

\n
Pages routes use
export const STREAMING = true
with SSR and full hydration.
\n
Recommend
streaming: true
only alongside a
<Suspense>
boundary reading the\ndeferred value with
use()
; without a boundary there is nothing to flush\nearly. Do not recommend it for:
\n
\n

ssg
/
isg
routes — they write files and the manifest rejects the\ncombination
\n
routes with
hydration
other than
\"full\"
— no client runtime resumes a\nboundary, and the manifest rejects it
\n
routes whose loader is a single slow call with nothing else to show — the\nshell would be empty and the user sees a skeleton rather than content
\n
\n
Also mention the tradeoffs when proposing it: a deferred rejection surfaces at\nthe read site rather than as an error document (the response is already\ncommitted at
200
), and streaming needs a
script-src
that allows the\nrenderer's inline bootstrap script. Route
head()
and
headers()
hooks run\nbefore deferred work settles, so any data they need must stay awaited. Confirm\nthe app uses\n
preact-render-to-string
6.7 or newer before enabling streaming.
\n
Step 4: Propose diffs, then apply on confirmation
\n
Present the exact edits and wait for approval. Where the edit lands depends\non the router
mode
from Step 1:
\n
\n
Manifest apps: edit
src/routes.ts
to update the
render
field. For\nISG, add
revalidate: timeRevalidate(N)
and import
timeRevalidate
from\n
@pracht/core
. Hydration changes update the
hydration
field the same\nway.
\n
Pages apps: render mode is a per-file constant —\n
export const RENDER_MODE = \"ssg\"
in the page module (valid values\n
\"ssr\" | \"ssg\" | \"isg\" | \"spa\"
; the default is
\"ssr\"
, overridable\nglobally via
pracht({ pagesDefaultRender: \"...\" })
in vite config).\nFor ISG, also add a positive integer time policy such as\n
export const REVALIDATE = 3600
; pages mode requires it and supports\ntime-based revalidation only. Eject for webhook or combined policies.\nHydration is
export const HYDRATION = \"...\"
in the same file. If most\npages want the same mode, prefer changing
pagesDefaultRender
over adding\na constant to every file.
\n
\n
Apply the edits only after the user confirms.
\n
Rules
\n
\n

Never silently change render modes. Always present the recommendation and\nthe exact diff first; apply only after explicit user approval.
\n
\n

If a route uses
auth
middleware, default to
ssr
— auth implies cookies.\nThe exception is middleware that only reads the session for a small\npersonal part of an otherwise public page: that is the server island case (5b).
\n
\n

All three adapters support ISG — the mechanisms differ. Confirm which\nadapter is in play, then use this capability table:
\n
\n
\n
\n
Adapter
\n
ISG mechanism (default)
\n
Notes
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Node
\n
Filesystem:
isg-manifest.json
+ file-mtime revalidation
\n
Serves stale immediately, refreshes in place.
\n
\n
\n
Cloudflare
\n
Worker-managed Workers Cache API, per colo — works without any extra config
\n

cloudflareAdapter({ cache: true })
+
\"cache\": { \"enabled\": true }
in wrangler config is an optional upgrade that moves time-revalidated routes to an edge-tier cache in front of the Worker; webhook-only routes stay worker-managed. Webhook invalidation on the default path is per-colo, not a global purge.
\n
\n
\n
Vercel
\n
Native ISR: Build Output API prerender functions with
expiration
from the time policy; for webhook revalidation,
PRACHT_REVALIDATE_TOKEN
becomes the
bypassToken
and must be set at build time
\n
ISG routes deploy as Node Serverless Functions (Vercel rejects ISR on an Edge Function) while SSR stays on the edge. Time-only ISR does not require the token. See https://pracht.resynapse.dev/docs/adapters.
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n

For dynamic SSG/ISG routes, ensure
getStaticPaths
exists. Flag if missing.
\n
\n

Use
pracht inspect routes --json
rather than reading
src/routes.ts
\nmanually — the resolved graph already accounts for groups and inheritance.
\n
\n
\n
$ARGUMENTS
\n","files":[{"path":"SKILL.md","sizeBytes":10972,"isText":true}],"reviewScore":null,"reviewSummary":null,"trust":{"provenance":"trusted-source-unreviewed","notice":"Community-authored content, reproduced verbatim and not vetted as instructions.
